caged bird... by

flies!

This is the final one I promise it was just that someone said:

’ohhh!!!… the hands… she looks like a bird ready to fly…it is wonderful.

And that was it. I thought they have totally understood what I wanted to say .. so I am posting it .. hope you don’t mind.

I still have a bit of catching up to do with work here and my last image .. I will do very soon. Thanks as always to all of you that view and comment .. it means a great deal to me :)

This is truly beautiful as are the others , but honestly the first one i saw “Faith” grabbed me from the heart .. I’ve just read your blog and whilst i spent many years searching for something, i have now found and believe and no longer feel lost or the need to look further. Awaiting the delivery of Faith and have prime possision reserved for it! stunning work.

  • Do you have the print yet Wendy? If so hope it was good :)

Oh my, what an exceptional image Deb, her hand & pose, she really looks like she’s just about to take flight – and that light, the way it halo’s her hair, is just magical.

  • Thanks so much Marion, always lovely to hear from you .. I was very lucky with the light and Fleur is just a perfect model for me :)

Lovely image, yet again. Well done Deb.
For those who are not aware – Deb captures a lot of these images with a Hasselblad 500C model (produced between 1957 and 1970). Thanks, Deb, for demonstrating so effectively, recently, that, in the right hands, older equipment can still deliver the goods – this series has been quite inspirational in that respect, I think.

  • Thanks for the info Brett … you know more about my camera than I do lol!! actually, I knew it was older me and that feels good. Thanks for all your support Brett, really do appreciate it :)

The light is absolute fantastic, and it shows how comfortable you in surroundings that inspire you (or the goth in you :)) the lighting streams through the open windows like the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, ready to transcend into another world. Thought provoking stuff indeed Deb

  • Funny enough when we first got there the light was grey and flat (ring any bells?) and I thought i had wasted a 2 hour drive here. So we did our walk which takes a few hours and by the time we got back around 4ish the light was beautiful. I thought the light would blow out as it was so strong and I did the exposure for the shadow (it is very dark in there) .. but the negs were good and all I had to do was the contrast .. so a bit lucky really :)
