silence by Deborah Parkin

silence by

This negative has been stretched to its limit exposure wise but there was something about the body language that made me like it.

Another one based upon childhood memories. I hated the silence of night time when everything was dark .. I would hear someone coming up the stairs, I would call out but no-one was there.

I remember that feeling so well………..I used to hear voices when everyone was asleep and be so terrified……….mum would come in when I’d scream out, and then tell me off for being silly………..
You just transported me way back in time Deborah, as you so often do with these amazing images……….
    Another diamond to your p/f!

  • And the nightmares feel so real don’t they? I was convinced that someone was coming into my house. I am still not a very good sleeper – Thanks so much for your comment Tracey .. always lovely to hear your thoughts :)

Fantastic work, Deb. I can relate. Until I was 12, all of the houses we lived in I slept in a bedroom (with my sister who was afraid of nothing and was no help!) that had the back gate just outside and I hated it – I was so scared!

  • Thanks so much Colleen for sharing your story … as an adult with children I always remember how irrational the night feels, so if they wake up, I never send them back to their room .. they jump in with me .. probably why I look so tired lol!!

Children are so volnerable and it looks like we can all relate to this image only too well. And like you, our little girl jumps in our bed when she says she has bad dreams :-))

  • Thanks so much Sylvia for your lovely comment – always lovely to hear from you :)

What I love and strive for in my own work-emotion.

  • Thanks so much Glenn-Patrick – emotion is the most important factor for me in photography.
