Deborah Parkin

can you help???

Hi RB friends

I have just been told that the college i go to is have a permanent exhibition room where i can put up images all year as opposed to just the end of the year – not sure how competitive it will be so i was wondering if you could help me. If you have the time would you tell me your favourite or what you think is my best image so far (if you want to say more than one, even better) – i am the worst decision maker in the world so this would be really helpful. Also, you may be a bit more objective.

Thanks all for taking the time – really appreciate it.

Bye for now
Debxxx

    Use these!

My Beautiful Girl, The thinker and Golden Footprints

    Hi Deb,
If it’s for college I would only put one or two of your best portraits up because it may look too much like a family portrait, some of your landscspes with good tones would work better.
Your work is excellent, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

This was not easy Deb – i love them all but these are my fav’s (very tough )

    The enchanted forest
    Knock Knock
    A Blue Day
    Mine
    Abbey
for withering moon – of course lol!!!!!!! – love this one =)

But my list could go on and on, just pick a variety of shots as your lanscape/buildings shots are as fabulous as the portraits, show your versatility!!!!!!

    Thanks Torfin appreciate it
Just realised Tony – point made about family album spot on but i will only be exhibiting one at a time – probably didn’t make myself clear – it’s just if you have more ideas then when i have to put another one up i don’t have to keep asking you – thanks again.

Wow Deb what a great opportunity.

It would be difficult to choose from your portfolio – I would recommend: my beautiful girl, Golden Footprints, man and boy

Alternatively tag all of your photos with Deborah Parkin and then type Deborah Parkin in the search tool on the top right and presto RedBubble will sort your photos in some magical order that takes into account number of views, time since upload, sales, comments and favorites. (from most popular to least popular). you need to have a unique identifier as the tag though otherwise you will get everyones photos.

    I’d have to say definately:

    My Beautiful Girl
    Reverse
    Looking Up

But that was a hard choice because they are all so fantastic.

With my business head on, consider who your audience might be as No 1 thing to think about!

If there are likely to be lots of Mums with young children, then your classic portraits might get you a few commissions.

Are local business people likely to go by? – What would look good hanging on the wall of someones office (portraits would be a definite no-no).

Without knowing the above context, My favourites are:

    Knock, Knock.
Enchanted forest (I still think you should try and add some colour to the handbag though! :-)
    Man and Boy

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Bruce – to be honest have no idea who the audience is – all so new to me – will seek advice. To be honest i never think commission sales etc – i live in a dream world where liking it is enough LOL – i will never be rich that is for sure (at least rich in the financial sense). Thanks again to everyone for taking time to look and comment

    Typical Artist! :-)

I guess I’m the same though, Deb. Being self-employed I’m actually losing money by being on this site, which reminds me what I’m supposed to be doing….

I’m not going to confuse you any more Deb, all you work is fantastic and deserves to be exhibited. Whatever you decide, it will be perfect, I’m sure. Congrats on the exhibition too btw, very exciting for you.

My dear friend this is like asking a child to chose their favorite dessert in their favorite bakery. I will do my best. Just remember, I could pick many more, but that wouldn’t help you. These are in no special order:

    The Thinker
    Dreams and Nightmares
    My beautiful boy
    I can read the future
    Kiss
    The enchanted forest
    London eye

I do hope I have helped. The one thing my teachers have been telling me about exhibiting, is to try and create continuity in a theme. Congratulations on the opportunity. I very happy for you.

Geez Deb…pick some favs? I hope you realize you’re asking the impossible…they’re ALL favourites of mine!!
Ok, if I have to choose, I would start with these…
    Man and Boy
    Soulmate
    The Thinker
    My beautiful girl
    Knock Knock
    The Enchanted Forest
There are heaps of others I love, but it would take forever to decide on what order to put them in!
I’m displaying some of my work this Sunday at a local kindergarten fair (very small time, but it’s a start!), and so I’ve just had to go through a similar process of deciding what to have printed and framed…not easy, but good fun!

Deb, you know what’s going to happen – we’ll all have different favourites and you’ll still be left trying to decide!! For me, it was a STRUGGLE to short list, but I think it’s the following:
    Dreams and nightmares
    Holiday blues
    Golden footprints
    Train
But you could ANY of your work on show and it would still impress the toughest critic!
    good luck choosing!

Wow, I’m so happy for you to see the encouragement you’re getting through here Deb! As you know I recently had to choose one of my images to enlarge for a display, and since then my tip would be to pick the one image that most often makes your breath catch in your throat and you think “Wow, I did that??”.
