Friends
I was watching these lads when I was at the Angel – there were three of them – one is rolling down the hill at the moment. The were having great fun, pushing each other over, fighting etc then for split second they stopped and just stood and looked – there was something very gentle about the way they did it. Despite the bravado you could see something of a real friendship between them.

Superb treatment as always Deb. I get a real sense of harmony from this image, a recall back to those years when everything was so simple… friendships were easily made and just as easily broken. Only to be reforged stronger than ever the very next day.

Wonderful shot – you’ve captured the moment excellently, the unspoken friendship is very evident in this picture
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks berndt – i really wanted to portray friendship – here in the UK all we ever hear about is how bad young kids are and i just wanted to show that it’s not always like that. Don’t know about you but i could be a mouthy so and so at times but i wasn’t bad :)

This is really an amazing image you were able to capture….the stillness of the boys and the magnatude of the skynis so countering each other that it really makes a tremendous shot…...It is as the heavens and sky are going to open up at any moment….and they are just quietly being alone in this huge world….nothing else is in existance for that split moment for them…..superbly captured…..
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks Ken – means a lot to me – you know you are an inspiration in my work :)

The two figures on their own though mainly flat black are so expressive and seem to have so much detail and the hill and sky are fantastic, ( I keep leaning over to see if I can see further down the hill) lol. Altogether its such a wonderful picture Deb, one of your classics.

I would love to see this with dimensions of 2 by 3 meters, or something like that. Real big. It is such an impressive work. If less is more, this image writes a novel. About friendship indeed. It is such a quiet and silent moment. And in the silence there is a whole universe of thoughts and emotions. The impressive sky emphesizes how important these moments are; they make the world turn around. The whole image also tells how important it is these moments are seen, in this case by you. A monument for (childhood) friendship.
Naomi Frost
Tremendous treatment, Deb. You’ve captured the moment perfectly.
Halcyon007
The description gives the true event that occurred but I didn’t get this from the shot on my own. They look to be really reflecting on something and the dark tones and strong silhouettes tinge it with sadness for me. The heavy strong clouds just add this to the mood and reflection on an event is what the image gives me.
This really is “In The Moment” stuff!
Judi Taylor
Powerful image. A lot of feeling here.
