Angel
I haven’t been out much lately as my little girl has been poorly (so sorry if i missed some of your work) however, yesterday i NEEDED to get out with my camera and luckily i didn’t have to go too far. This is the iconic Angel of the North – you can see it driving on the A1 – it is such a powerful symbol and awesome to see.

Every time I see this thing, I’m intrigued. Here you have presented a great perspective with the wing acting as the leading line for my eyes. Your signature style shines through on this.

wonderfull image, i always wanted to photograph the Angel, never had the chance yet”,
Very well done

Love the angle and dramatic lighting deb – hope your little one is better soon

And it gets the full Parkin treatment. One minute landscapes, the next iconic landmarks (we’ll soon have you doing waterfalls and sunrises Deb – I can see you’re headed in that direction!)
I just love the two figures walking around which really show the scale and size of the statue. I have never seen it with my own eyes, and have had to rely on photos and just love how you have represented it. Those clouds are just seriously impressive and really add to the Parkin blacks and whites with some glory.
The textures on the wings have also come out incredibly well and it’s a very interesting angle which is not one that i’ve seen before.
Deborah Parkin in reply to Dave Warren’s comment, 5 months ago
I think you would do a wonderful job Dave, so i hope you get to do it one day – i had a very limited time and a 6 year that kept disappearing to take his own pictures LOL!!! So only got a few i liked, but would like to go back there. Thanks for your comment too :)

Wow! Deb.. this is fantastic! I’ve driven past this a couple times but never had the opportunity to stop and take a good look… I love this sculpture and all the work of the artist.. I love what you have done here with the processing and the framing of this is spot on. Love the perspective. Definately an iconic image for an iconic sculpture! Now tell me, is it just me, or is thatan eye in the clouds looking down on the child? Brilliant!

Brilliantly composed Deb, for me it has a surreal air the way the left wing brings us into the pic, and the right stops dead amongst those ominous clouds.Sorry to hear Fluer’s not well, I hope she feels better soon.

Martin Derksema, 4 months ago
This really is a very uplifting image. What a sky bound power. My old pilot’s heart starts beating faster if I look at this, as you possibly can imagine. Because this is how Flyboys want it. To be óne with the wings and to be able to fly on you own power. Love the enormous wing span bursting out of the image. And the sky … oh boy … the sky … I think the clouds might burst open any moment and then a voice will speak and say Planet Earth is saved. Gee, this is a picture of mythical proportions. Lóve the little figure sneaking out of the picture. A picture that made my day.

Denzil, 4 months ago
This is by far the best image I have seen of this figure. Interestingly a very ordinary shot appeared in a recent advertising section in one of our Australian newspapers, a promo for that area of England, often overlooked by tourists apparently. I thought how striking it must look in reality, and your photo has brought it to me, through the magic of RedBubble!
This is a powerful brooding image, both uplifting and striking.
