Lovely shot Debs….has a real 35mm cine feel to it. Love the vignetting and the grain. The blobs of foam in the foreground are sublime. The light and sky are wonderful! Lovely photo!

Great work it really makes me want to get out in some nice weather I am getting tired of the ice cold weather here in the UK. Our office is so cold my hands go numb. the feel of this shot is really nice the tones are perfect and the uncluttered composition is spot on.

Just perfect Deb….I just love the moment in time that was captured here….so still and calm….if we are very quiet, we can hear the water coming in and going out….Perfectly blended tones…There will never be another moment quite like this captured…...It is almost voyeristic in the sense that we get a glimpse of a very sepcial bond out there….Brilliant shot as always Deb

Excellent capture Deb. I like the dark edges, which I have noticed you do a lot, and, I hope you dont mind, I have started to do similar in some of my B&W work.

  • Deborah Parkin replied

of course i don’t mind Richard – flattered even :) Thanks for you kind comment.

What I love most about this picture are the 2 reflections. Also, the vignetting really draws me in. Very intense mood too, beautiful…

  • Karen Gough

What a fabulous shot, Deb. the detail in the foreground and the waves just pulls you into the image. Love the frame created by the darkened edges, too. Well done, as usual!

  • Halcyon007

    Halcyon007

Well, it’s nearly a landscape shot I guess… (Lot more colour and some rocks and, oh, sorry….)

The figures add to the scale and occasion, although it’s hard to tell it’s summer from here. People go into the sea at all times of the year and the b/w stripped down to this minimalist image makes it impossible to guess the season.

I like the reflections in the wet sand and those small pebbles in the sand at the front are great too.

Love what you’ve done to the sky. Almost like charcoal

  • Deborah Parkin replied

Yes, that’s it Stuart – this is my landscape shot and the nearest you will get me to doing one :)
Thanks for the lovely comment too :)

okay, more time… love your use of vignette in this, especially on the bottom, how you left the rocks,or shells – enhances the viewer’s perception that those two are reeeeally far away. One of the rocks is as big as the man. very cool. the sand looks wet and I don’t know if you added or enhanced the reflections, but they look great. the pic tells a story, to be sure, but the technique here is what knocks me out..
