Ken Mucke
Excellent eye Deb to catch that shadow…it really makes that picture stand out…very interesting study of the woman outside the gents Bathroom….perfect lighting again
Ed Michalski
Some people would say B&W photography is just a treatment of a color capture. It is much more than that. I think if someone asked how so I would point them to your work.
Sean Farragher
fantastic shot
gladders
She seems to have her focus….I wonder if thats a macro lens? Love the shadow of the lampost. Well observed shot Debs.
lpm1471
The lady with the camera makes this shot, so much of a story being told for a single image and the shadow is just divine
Oli Johnson
excellent. so much going on. where to start?
Benjamin Scheurer
Fascinating shot, Deborah!

Antanas

Mark Gardner
brilliant Deb, your work is always so interesting, such an eye for an opportunity, is she waiting for someone or just hoping lol, love the shadow
Douzy
One of my fave of yours… The composition is just perfect (woman + lamp shadow), and the Gentlemen sign in the middle adds a funny twist. Really like your street photography, and I bet Abe and Fleur are more than happy to have a break from their paparazzi mum!! ;))
Sharon Hammond
As always the tones are lovely
Birgitta
I was going to say, that the most interesting part to me is
the lamp post, and then read your description. It really stands
out, doesn’t it? Even up against a loitering (and somewhat questionable)
woman snapping photos (is she?) around the men’s room. (yikes..)
Plenty to talk about here....heheh. Beautiful control with the lighting
and tones; masterful work. It seriously looks like a staged studio shot..
so yeah…bravo!
Halcyon007
And somewhere, there may be someone who took a picture of you taking a picture of the gents loo. What goes around comes around! Did you think of that Deb?
That aside, great candid shot. Makes you wonder if there’s something else other than the lampost offscreen (maybe another photographer).
The light is brilliant with the shadow across the majority of the wall but illuminating the lampost over to the right.
The textures in the brickwork are fantastic and it’s a great capture of an old toilet (the kind you would only use if desperate as they are old)
Martin Derksema
Beautiful work. It plays a funny mindgame with me. The word ‘gentlemen’ is featured so prominently that my mind wants to think the picture is about men. But there is no man in the image. It is not about men at all. It is about a woman and a lampost and a beautiful alcove with a mosaic of tiles. I absolutely lóve pictures that say they are about men but are in fact about women and lamposts. There is a sense of humour in this image that makes me think of Magritte. (Ceci n’est pas une pipe.) Beautiful piece of art, Deborah.

I think this for me is one of your best yet, and that is saying something brilliant work Deborah
funkyfacestudio
This is awesome, The shadow of the lamp post is so cool, beautiful work Deborah :)
Arnold Isbister
MAN you got a good eye. You capture the moment and mood as a Fine Art. She is not shooting the lampost, it’s something beyond, something not visible to us.

This is just fabulous, Deb, well seen!!!!!
Helene Kippert
Well spotted Deb – love the tones and treatment

Rhana Griffin

wellman
its the “glow” in your work that gives it that stunning DP signature – this one is a gem!
Naomi Frost
What a great find, Deb. As usual, you have done a terrific job with the textures of this shot. The bricks look fabulous and the ones over the door really do pop out. That shadow is positioned perfectly and the woman with the camera just tops off a terrific capture. I hope the lady was taking a picture of the shadow too…lol
Matt Roberts
Nice.
Graham Dean
Love the character with the camera, could be any of us focusing on our little worlds. The lighting draws me in,.....(maybe because I need to go), lol, Very unique and entertaining art Deb.
J.K. York

Wow! This is fantastic Deb.. sorry for coming to this late.. trying to catch up now.. I love this.. and yes, the shadow definately makes this a fantastic shot.. Not sure if anyone else has said this yet, but to me it loks very sinister.. very Hitchcock! So many stories can be taken from this or made.. this is what I love about your work! An instant favourite – this one has so much!
Thomas Dodd
You have such a great feel for the way light and shadow interact – beautifully captured!

Very well done.. love the tones and the composition.

Jiminy Christmas! It took me three minutes just to scroll down to the comment window! LOL! What sets this composition is apart, for me; is your use of thirds vertically. The girl, the door, and the lamp-post shadow. The other subtlety is the contrast from left to right with the bright tones of her coat balancing the lighter right side; and then the reverse, from right to left, with the lamp-post shadow balancing the dark shadows of the left side. This is superbly composed, Deb; as usual. I find your black and white work very compelling and incredibly inspirational. Keep up the good work! Finally, another observation I’d like to make is that you don’t post a lot of fluff. None of your work, in any way, shape, or form, can be considered to be mediocre in the slightest. Your attention to quality is to be commended! Cheers! Chris
