Love the way you have used the light here, Deb. Those shadows are fabulous.
Halcyon007, 8 months ago
I don’t know how you find these places Deb. The openes of the door, with the light streaming in catching the brickwork on the ground and highlighting their magnificent textures is fantastic.
The glow of the light on the child’s hair and the long shadows drawn also instantly catch your eye. The title is spot on – To me the image conjures up the end of the visit, discussions over what had just been seen as they venture out to the cafe / gift shop or way home.
Finally the trap door just keeps grabbing my attention each time I go back for another look. As does the window (I think it is) on the door on the right.
A classic DP shot and a great addition to the pf Deb

This really is stunning work Deb.. the light here is wonderful.. excellent long shadows and the highlights on the sons hair brilliant. I love the framing of this, how the door frame frames the father and son and inturn is framed with the whole shot. Really great atmosphere here too.. it looks like a cold winters afternoon to me..

This is so beautiful Deb. I love how it seems Dad is hunched over against the cold and yet the boy skips along merrily, oblivious to the weather, just happy to be in the company of his idol. The glow around his hair is just gorgeous too…

Excellent mood created here by the light, textures, shadows…the list goes on

Excellent image once again Debs I love the way the two children are walking into the light and their shadows falling diagonally into the foreground, it’s simply stunning work well done.

This is a stunning image, fantastic light and shadow working in this

There’s so much in this to see and feel. A highlight for me is the little window on the right and the soft light it seems to cast on the tree…which of course it isn’t. There are mysteries and roundabouts and perspectives within perspectives. A fascinating study and a magical image.

Great picture Deb – very well exposed on what is obviously a difficult shot.
Even though the sky is bright you have still kept the detail in those cobblestones.
And in B/W well that just makes it.
Well done

The shadows and the view through the doorway especially, have such a beautiful painted quality. I believe Deb you can turn anything into one of these amazing Deborah Parkins. A bit like the Midas touch only the Parkin touch is black and white gold. lol.

There are so many ways of looking at this picture. I’ll stick to the beauty of it, which has so many dimensions. First of all this soft, stroking, velvet darkness that is such a pleasure to look at. Gives me a feeling as if it pleasantly absorbs me. The there is the fact that I can look so far into this image. Zwoofff … there goes my mind, straight to the horizon and further. Then there is the beautiful light that does magical things with the pavement and the hair of the persons. And off course there is the human element that adds so much beautiful emotion to this experience. The architecture and the fact you can look so far into the image makes me think about certain paintings of Vermeer. You’re good.
