  • Halcyon007

    Halcyon007, 9 months ago

It is fantastic large (although I was expecting a hot off the press navity scene LOL)

The soft focus of the background makes, as Helene said, look like a different Narnia style world outside the door. That reflection on the wall is amazingly captured

Incredible, those ghostly trees framed in the archway, still trying to reach beyond it. The stance of the figure, and the light on the stonework. There is so much going on. It’ wonderful!

Amazing lighting work here! I’m guessing you dodged the outside,
(past the door..tree, etc.) if so then that was a brilliant move. I like
the soft lighting on the broken pieces of ground/rock right at the door’s
threshhold. He seems to say so much with just his silent posture!
(And looks like you may have burned him a bit?) So many levels of
light & dark here…I just get lost in it all. You have a gift!!!

technically stunning – no surprise there. I don’t know what to make of it – feeling a little dopy(er) this morning. that’s a pretty bleak landscape he’s facing…....hmmm….... what I need here is wisdom…..

No such luck – hey, without words except beautiful, mysterious & tough to fathom – like the future – and as with all of your work, made me think – ouch!

Church windows have such a beautiful symbolic value. They look like arrows pointing to heaven. And they allow light to stream into the darkness. Abe is standing in the light, near the tree of life, symbol of eternal life. A beautiful vision you had here, Deborah. Executed in a very precise manner; makes me think of an icon. Love what you did with the light and the hazyness around the tree. The tree looks as if it is made of glas or ice. Very fairy tale like. A beautiful piece of wisdom in art.

There is so much about this image that is admirable from the technical and aesthetic point of view. The doorway frames the child and it opens onto a slightly dream-like lanscape. There is a very rich and satisfying tonal range. Some new pleasure reveals itself every time I look at this.
