Candlelight
Taken today at a beautiful Christmas Carol service at Fountains Abbey – the children were given candles and we had mulled wine – not an easy combination with a two year old who refuses to have her wild hair tied back and a mother who has wine in one hand and a camera in the other – thank goodness for dads :0)

Amazing piece. Love the darkness with just that little bit of candle light in the middle. The expression on the child’s face with the thumb in the mouth is priceless. Just like David, my favourite of yours “by a country mile” ;).

Deb this deserves more than just a nice comment. Fantastic image.. If you ever go back.. get a bit closer to show the face more.. and the candle flame.. the detail of the stone will show up more also.. This is a wonderful place to capture.. No complaining a bit.. but I am just trying to find improvement when you post.. its not easy.. you do so well..

Very funny story Deb LOL.
The lighting here is just amazing. It really appears that the candlelight is the only source but its powerful enough to light up the whole wall.
This must have been very hard to capture and its been done superbly.
Basia McAuley, 7 months ago
Love this composition and the warm glow from the candle near the otherwise cold stony surrounding, great work once again.

Fantastic dark image Deb.. such a wonderful image with great composition, lighting and interesting textures in the wall.. I love how you can look at this and read so many different sub contexts into this.. a portrait of a child that for me contains many adult themes.. the result of a well thought out piece.
Birgitta, 7 months ago
Outstanding work here! Truly…

Very well seen, Deborah. Love the love in it. A picture with a very high literary level. You should hire someone to carry the wine.
