The Conductor

This was taken at the same place as ‘boy alone’. I wanted to put it up because it really makes me smile and feel happy at the sheer lack on inhibition some children have – this is Abe being a conductor and singing his heart out – totally nuts!!!!! I admire this as i am and was as a child very self-conscious – so this is my tribute to those who are free-spirited!!!

(I have also put it up to put on my calender :0))

I like the use of space here. Sometimes a 1/2 and 1/2 approach works. This is one of those times.

This is wonderful Deb.. dont you just wish the spirit of a child could be bottled and passed onto adults.. we just get too caught up in the trivia of life.. I think the only time I sing my heart out now is whilst driving my car! I try not to let the strange looks bother me! Anyway, thisis a wonderful piece.. I love the silhouette and the light behind is just stunning! Love it!

I think you are right Paul – i would love to bottle it up – Abe was singing in the street not so long ago – people smiling at him as they walked past – he then said ‘you sing it mummy’ – i just clammed up, said i couldn’t remember the words – he didn’t let me get away with it ’ i will teach you’ – so i did – i sang out loud walking through Hexham and i was unforgivably self-conscious LOL!!! He didn’t notice a thing.

I would love to have a carefree spirit like that… Like you, I was a shy and self-conscious child, and still am shy (although ironically I’m a professor and I talk to people for a living; go figure). You’ve really captured something wonderful and special in this shot, but of course you do that with every shot. :) I am so impressed with your talent (and a little envious, too!).

beautiful, great capture & b&w treatment. wonderful notes. I love the crazy stuff kids do because they feel like it. Adult shoppers don’t even blink when they pass a kid lying on the floor of the produce section, flailing arms and legs, singing “row, row, row a goat, I want some ice cream….” or something like that. An adult tries it and, bang, they tossed me right out – er….

Not so sure about conducting music Deb, but the image makes him look like he’s conducting the weather (Kate Bush’s cloudbusting video ring any bells???) but done in a Minority report style, its almost as though he’s just moving the clouds over there.
