Hi Deborah, wonderful use of depth of field concentrating our view to this little man who looks like he is looking for help to make him come to life and bring happiness to some lucky child, can you tell I love it,
PS did you ever see creative monochrome Books or by monthly mags. as a friend of mine had a wonderful image of a puppet in the year book
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks Marshall for your wonderful comment – so pleased you like it. I am afraid I haven’t seen the image you talk of but would really like too.

Super shot Debs but I find it quite unnerving and a bit sinister. It scares me a little! I like it that a picture does that!

so beautifully captured Deborah – the lighting & perspective create such a wonderful sense of place – so many loved toys found discarded by our children – I love that Ive kept them for the future when I know that they will be appreciated – even by future grandkids !!! – cheers deb :)
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks so much .. funny enough I kept my old toys too – they felt too real. :)
Adrian Jeffs
another masterful display from you Deb… from the exquisitely positioned and lit toy in the foreground to the tormented child in the background…
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks so much Adrian – so pleased you noticed the child too :) Always lovely to hear from you :)
Graham Dean
I first think of that fabulous cinematic quality unique to your work. Discarded is so artistic. You get so much art out of your camera. More than just a photograph. Everything’s good on rb when your exhibiting Deb : )
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks Graham – I like the idea of having a ‘cinematic’ quality – love your comment as always.
CJTill

GlennC
Deborah, this is a beautiful image; there is a tension between a sadness and a darkness. No toy should lay discarded like this has, but as children grow so do there interests! but it is the positioning of the toy which hints at a this is a result of a sad incident?
glenn
Deborah Parkin replied
Thank you Glenn for your thoughtful comment – you are right – there is more to the story than the discarded toy – it is more about the child behind – hope you are well :)
imageworld
gives you a feeling of sadness this picture, the way the toy is lying there looking pitiful seems to be lost with out his playfriend, works well in black & white
Deborah Parkin replied
Thank you imageworld for your comment – so pleased you like it :)
Jan Kölling
