There is definately a special quality in film that you just don’t get with digital. I would love to have a play with this camera. Gorgeous work.

  • Deborah Parkin replied

The camera is beautiful – so much depth and not too heavy either – it has really slowed me down as a photographer – getting exposure reading and then taking pic – missed quite a few opportunities but a good learning curve for me. Thanks for the comment Sylvia. xx

Your description says it all. Everyday. You`ve captured this in a way that it looks so beautifully unrehearsed and natural.
But this is hardly mundane. It is soulful, expressive, and it fills me with emotion.
    Lovely work Debora, as usual.
    xo

  • Deborah Parkin replied

Thanks billyboy .. I love how you find it ‘soulful and expressive’ – that is so beautiful xxx

More white and black than black and white. Nice and soft which is enhanced by the soft white backdrop focusing the attention on the expression and wish for everyone else to finish eating so play time can recommence and the annoyance of sitting down for meal time is removed for a few more hours.

  • Deborah Parkin replied

I really remember that feeling lol!! Thankfully I don’t put mine through that .. I am more than happy for them to leave the table so I can eat in peace … or should I say leave the table once I have taken their picture lol!! Thanks for your great comment.

very nice , i reckon no matter what you do with digital you cannot replicate the tones of B&W films . , very well done

  • Deborah Parkin replied

Thanks Hany .. I agree :) I am having such a blast with medium format at the moment.

Beautiful image Debs…..but….poor child…obviously lamenting the thin, brown watery gruel she is being forced to consume day after day before being locked in the cupboard under the stairs with a pile of film canisters and developing liquid. The ppor childs eyes puckering with the stench of acetic acid! You should be ashamed of yourself!

  • Deborah Parkin replied

Yes, my kids are living the life out of a Dicken’s novel lol!! Such a cruel mother that I am? I am very ashamed .. I promise but it’s an addiction – what ca I do? :)

When I see your name in my activity area, & can’t click on the
thumbnail fast enough. hehe.. For someone like me, who is
soooo obsessed with exposure, contrast and gamma, it’s like
a new treat every time I see something different from you. Nothing
is ever blown out or overdone…it’s so well done. Truly, masterful
work. And I like how the bowl appears to be oversized. Gives it
an Alice In Wonderland feel. So neat. :)

  • Deborah Parkin replied

Birgitta you are too kind :) But I like it! You just say the nicest things .. I do try and get it right – sometimes I will tolerate a bit of ‘blown out/blocked in’ if there is something about the image that draws me in – but I know what you mean. Well what can I say – mutual respect of course. xx

Thanks Simon .. that’s a lovely comment and I really do appreciate it. And yes, people do say she looks like me .. hard for me to tell.
