I have been scanning lots of negatives lately and came across these that I took last autumn. I didn’t initially print them because my beloved Leica R3 had a light leak – some negs were beyond saving but I have managed to get quite a few where I feel the light leakage has actually been beneficial to the outcome.
I may be posting more from this series or might just put them on my website .. they work better as a body of work than singular. You get more of an insight into childhood and how a walk in a frost laden woodland opens up a new world to them.

Nice and evocative as always Debs! Feels like you caught her just as she was about to turn tail and leg it down the path!
Deborah Parkin replied
You’re not far wrong Simon – have a whole body of work here (which I may or may not post) and I think it tells a better story than the one image alone. Cheers for the comment – always nice to see your face pop up.
billyboy
Awesome. This has that Leica thing that everone sees but nobody can really explain… something about the way their lenses refract light… gives pictures a dimension that has become recognizable and revered.
But this is more about the photographer and the way you`ve dealt with the subject and everything around her to create a massively charming image.Wow, I am in awe… especially if this is among your rejects!!!!
xo♥
Deborah Parkin replied
I totally agree – there is something about the simplicity of these old cameras that I love too – something very intimate about them and if you are intimate with your camera and subject – then you are very luck indeed. Thanks as always for your lovely comment xx

Michael Oubridge
Fabulous Deb, is this the way into Dukes House Wood? There are some lovely pathways running through all the way to Devils Water, truely beautiful come the autumn :)
Deborah Parkin replied
You are just too clever Michael lol!! This is Dukes House Wood and it was taken last autumn. The light was amazing and there was a really hard frost – I felt excited taking the pics but felt so disappointed when I developed the negs and there was light leakage (on some image huge black stripes on the negs) but I came across them the other day and decided to scan those which didn’t look too bad – so pleased I did:)
Have a great weekend – any plans?
aglaia b
keep coming back to this deb, it’s really beautiful and your background, especially towards the end of the path is full of bokeh, the natural leica way. you very lucky thing. lovely work. ;-) xox
Deborah Parkin replied
ah thanks aglaia – so nice that you have come back :) Luckily I was told about bokeh a couple of months ago so I know what you are talking about lol!! Yes, very lucky with my cameras, but I promise that I don’t spend a lot and they are all between 20 and 50 years old (apart from digi). Other images taken on the Leica posted on rb are Ghost, Don’t look back and Goggles. Thanks again xxx

Birgitta
This is so perfect (smiling big) and it looks like it’s right out ofd a movie!
Has a wonderful film quality about it and certainly stands out among other
B&Ws here. You are of another calibur altogether. I like her posture &
concentrated lighting around her head, face & hair, and the fact that her
expression is somewhat hidden. It’s intriguing. :)
Deborah Parkin replied
You’re making me blush Birgitta lol!! This is such a kind comment and I don’t really know what to say other than a big thank you – it means a lot to me :)
Rosemary Scott

Stuart Chapman
Like a bus, wait 9 months for an upload then two in two days :)
TM vigentte Deb closes in on the subject well and the clothing alone gives an impression of the temperature as it’s play time in the woods on an autumnal day.
Deborah Parkin replied
And there is more to come – I am on a roll lol!!
Thanks for the comment – and by the way .. are you getting much sleep lol!!
Jan Timmons
Evocative and appealing. I can’t quite articulate my feelings, but I know I admire this. Do you submit your work to 1x.com? I think they would love this, too.
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks Jan – you have articulated beautifully :)
I did try 1x for a couple of pics and although they got published I couldn’t stand the anticipation of being rejected lol!! I have fragile nerves :)

of coarse I raced to your website to see if you’d put more of the series up there.
That reminded me, what an incredible collection of work you already have. What a beautiful picture Deb, and my first thought was like Kitsmumma’s it is timeless. It’s always exciting to be able to see the work of artists you admire, it’d be great to see more of the series you’ve described. I hope we get that priviledge.
Deborah Parkin replied
You always say the nicest things Graham :)
I am in the middle of getting a new website but if it takes too long then I will add more images to my old one and some of rb. Just don’t like to do too many in case people get sick of me. Hope you are well. xx
