Gasp! Colour! And so expressive… lovely image from life with a growing child. (I have them too…)
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks Mike – I do have a b&w version but thought I would be bold. :) This is going to be my new project at uni – a sofa series in medium format – hopefully will get to scan and upload. Hope you are well.
Richard Veal
And is a dark one. LOL
Great capture and love the light Deb.
Plus, ‘the attitude problem’ sitting down. :-))
Deborah Parkin replied
Thanks Richard – I don’t think I could ever do light and happy lol!!!
Stuart Chapman
1st uploaded in 27 weeks and we see why. You’ve been painstainkinly colouring it with felt tip pens you got from Andrew Walker for your birthday.
I must admit I had to double check your name next to the coloured image on my activity monitor, 1st, new work from Deb! 2nd Colour!! – I wondered who had hacked into your account.
Lovely image as usual (I think they used to be good – I can’t remember how your other stuff looked now – it’s been so long :)) packed full of emotion, feeling, space and vigenette inspired shadings with a masterpiece of light.
You can see Abe thinking (Dammit, I thought i’d got away from the mad lady with the camera but she’s back tormenting me again – Trip to see the panda coming up to compensate methinks)
Deborah Parkin replied
Not that you are counting Stuart lol!!! I do have it in b&w but if you go to the National portrait gallery site you can see why I was inspired to do colour for a change.
As always, great comment – hope life is good for you and you are setting down to being a parent to two :)
Ian James
Brilliant the tones are really great and I love the tangle of arms and legs.

Good to see you back. It does seem to have gone a bit quiet in here. Not sure if it because I have been hanging around here for too long….hey ho.
Deborah Parkin replied
Thank you Ian – good to be back – I had heard that it had been quiet – funny though, still love the place even though not here as much as I used to be.

Well, when you do colour, you do it so well! The contrast between the orange skin tones and blue wall is wonderful… who is your interior designer? ;-)

It took me a very long time to comment on this…because I was shocked to see color…You really did an amazing job with it….his posture and lack of expression really tells a poignent tale….The lighting is very dramatic as well

Your pictures are always so inspiring Deb, when there’s an artists work you love and wait for, and when it’s finally unveiled and it’s completely what you didn’t expect, but then you have an even greater admiration for their work, well that’s how I see growing pains.
deannedaffy
