Deborah, you have captured one of the most compelling dramatic images I have seen. The composition and tones are great. The contrast so enhances this image. But the colors. Wow. The subdued colors add to the allure and mystery of this image. The distribution of your subject and space is superb. Nothing in this image is disposable artistically. The fade to black is perfectly done here. Having your subject’s back to the camera makes her “every child”, a universal figure. Together it all is inspirational. So much could be written about this image. Great, great work. Applause.

The sepia and vignetting poignantly enhance what is already a memorable image. You evoke childhood in ways that make it familiar to us who were once children, but also unfamiliar as if it were a world we can’t precisely remember inhabiting. I hope that makes sense. But the wonder and beauty of childhood is that it only makes sense to children. It belongs to them only.
