I feel very small, fretful and insignificant looking at this. I like the bright burst of light too, as if its aiding the lost, cut off feeling the child must have…..how unusual to have light as the isolator and not the saviour?

  • cdwork

    cdwork

Wonderful! For me the child walks with confidence! Although I love the feeling of a need for protection! As always superb use of light

Aaargh! Flasback to the weekend and many a moment lost in the maze at Leeds Castle (we never did find the middle for the 2nd visit now – it’s getting embarrasing and i’m sure there’s a secret trapdoor in the hedge somewhere)

Love it Deb. Does look like a natural maze of sorts with the confused feel after running down another dead end and the black outline adds to the sense of enclosure and claustrophobia. Yup, I do get Lost to as my one word instant summary (shortly followed by frustration as it’s clear a quick way out is sought very desperately).

  • nodrogart

    nodrogart

Deborah, I think this could be one of your best ever shots!

the lighting is exquisite, the defining areas of shadow play and show a darker side to this image which is given even more emphasis with the size of the child in the middle, their size, draws you deeper into the image and gives a tweak at the viewers more vulnerable side and starts to bring on a little panic,

    BIG WELL DONE

  • Martin Derksema

    Martin Derksema

Love the treatment. So magical and strong. The light and absence of light play such an important role in this work. Yeah, we are so small and vulnerable compared to the forces of life that surround us. But there is a clear path. A picture with a happy ending.
