And the yet further increasing look of boredom (if it is even more possible) on Abe’s face. (There must be talk of trips to see pandas at the zoo or milkeshakes to keep him modelling for you in these environments!)

A fitting addition to the image. I’ve always found powerlines to make great photographic subjects at times. What some consider an eyesore, they do transport one of the most used commodities in modern times. Leaving any environmental issues to one side (as this is not the place – i’m adding a comment on the artwork) this conjures up images of power and progress.

The mayhem of overlapping cables removes from the otherwise neatness in composition and symmetary of the shot and the usual great depth leads to a blurring of the world behind.

On a side note, with all that electricity around, it’s a good job Abe wasn’t carrying a balloon as his hair would have gone mental!

The tv lines are buzzing, so is the subjects brain, we all tear around thanks to industry. Even though we can tear around, I don’t think we were meant to….. now. Great work of art Deb. Great performance Abe.

The production of electricity…...possibly THE most polluting process on the planet….....the power station on the Trent near where I live burns a mountain of coal that is a mile around its circumfrence almost every 6 weeks…..I like the dark bags under Abes eyes as if he is being kept awake by the constant thrumb of electricity as it travels through the cables to power his nightlight…..or his nintendo!

Urbanization seems to do not much good for the quality of life in your coastal areas. I love the atmosphere in this picture. He looks as if he is lost in an environment that is not at all suitable for children. The high voltage power cables emphesize the feeling of bad vibrations and chaos. Gee, you did this so well. You are getting better and better with these contrasts between people and environment.

Hey Deb…I could have sworn I already commented on this one….But this whole series you are doing for your school is really amazing….The subject matter you chose if perfect////dealing with industrialization and youth….The deep tones really have set the mood for this shot and series…and the kid you chose is perfect….his expressionless manner really speaks volumes to this plight….The series really raises many question we have for our youth and what we will leave behind for them…This is realy brilliant work Deb…so very powerful and dramatic and makes you have to really think of the future for them…BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this shot Deb.. I’ve just been staring at it for ages, completely captivated by Abes expression.. or I guess that you could say lack of… The kids of today really are born into a worls of power and technology.. its a sad fact that the beautiful parts of out land are disappearing.. some at an alarming rate!
The processing in this is once again wonderful.. The DoF is spot on, giving Abe the centre of attention.. and wow, you’ve gotta love the light in this.. the light in Abes hair and shadows on his gface are both brilliant.. Love it!

little Billy knew that standing under pylons resulted in a certain amount of ionisation and static build up but since his mother refused to cut his hair this was the only way he knew to get his hair out of his eyes.
