Jen Cannella
Wow…you did such an amazing job on this…perfect!
Joanne Bradley
Wonderful portrait. I like the ways the bangs obscure part of his face. There is something a little bit rebellious with that stance and it goes well with the urban motif of having the graffiti to the side.

‘Emotive portraits’ is a difficult project, I think. But I see and feel the emotion, absolutely. The unpleasant and cold and harsh environment creates a lot of emotion already. For me it is the uncomfortable feeling of being in a bad place (or state of mind). The fact that I can’t see his eyes emphesizes the emotion. The inner light is invisible. Someone who is lost in a place where he shouldn’t be … that is the emotion I feel with this image. I think you did a great job.
peterhoenderdos
Beautifull portrait. very dramatic use of light. Well done.
Mark Gardner

Wow.. this is brilliant! Absolutely stunned by this one.. firstly the clarity and the tones really grab me and the composition is just perfect. The background is so simple yet adds so much and the light is just perfect with a brilliant mood to the whole piece… amazing depth to those B+W tones. This is where silver is golden!
wellman
emotive portraiture at its finest – I totally concur with Tupmans super “silver is golden” comment
Michael Oubridge
Stunning work Deb, i wouldn’t expect anything less though :) The lighting on his face is wonderful…
I hope you made him clean the grafitti after you had finished, Blyth is such a clean area LOL
Ken Mucke
Amazing image Deb…the lighting is just so perfect…..the fact that you cant see the eyes adds just the right amount of mystery to the shot…The subdued expression is really what makes this image so powerful…..you really wonder what is going on in their minds at this age..the image is perfectly framed in the shot to reveal the graffitti…..One of my FAVS of yours for sure Deb
david malcolmson
It is well-nigh impossible for a child to avoid the culture of his or her time – it has always been so. One could conjure up the cultures of so many ages and see a child like this one with that perplexed contemplation of their place in the present reality. This is sombre, thought-provoking and easily transcends the bounds of a mere exercise.
funkyfacestudio
I love the light and shadows here, what a face he has…......darling !
