Thank you so much David – you are too kind – and by the way – you are :)

Your tonal control is superb! The black isn’t too black, and the
overall exposure is just right. (I really DO see your subjects, etc..heheh..)
It’s just that your focus and again control steal the show.
(It can’t be helped!) And...it’s a great shot. ;)

Thanks Birgitta – it’s good to see you back :)

Lovely shot Debs….I like the windblown hair and the snorkel jacket reminds me of being 8 and at junior school…....reminds me of the U2 album cover of the same name…....

Beautiful portrait Deborah, it sure looks windy but at least there was some sunshine :) I like how It’s shimmering off of the little bit of hair that is exposed.

I love the mood that you have created here with the black and white Deborah!

This is so beautifully windswept… the way the hair mingles with the fur is so cool, and I like the way your framing and lighting just emphasizes the direction of the wind enough to make me feel it. I also think your square crop is perfect for this… haven’t figured out why yet, but I’m thinking on it… and it’s making me think and keeps me coming back for another look, so I am sort of hooked on your art then, aren’t I? What a lovely addiction!

Wonderful! Makes me cold though.

How good is this shot! Love it – the expression of his face, the movement of the hair/fur, the sense of cold, the tonal range and the slight vignetting.

Gosh Deb, it looks so icy cold over there!! I bet Abe is toasty warm though, and all set for a lovely play outside (once mum is done with taking his photo of course!). This is a wonderful of childhood…love the image!

This is stunning Deborah.. wonderful portraiture work. Your B+W work here is perfect.. fantastic tonal qualities and spot on exposure leaving little need to do anything.. the very subtle burning on the edge of the frame works very well.. the relationship you have with your children is so obvious when you see your shots and its a great thing.. Love it!

This reminds me of my childhood in Northampton… Yes it gets cold in Melbourne but I remember so many days in England when the balls dislodged off the brass monkey.

excellent B&W work, good tones and I like the way his hair blends with the ‘hair’ of the parka, plus the patient, resigned expression!

Is this the new (now was it a process or image or camera or something – you know I delete the bubble mails and my memory isn’t as good as it once was, so i’m going to have to go with the universal word of…) thing that you were talking about Deb?
Me likes it a lot. It’s seems soft yet the details in the black and white are crisp and clear. The shines of light in the rolls around the neck show this off to the fore.
What I love about the image is that I can’t tell where the fluff on the hood ends and the hair starts LOL.
Brilliant

Great portrait, Deborah. I love the softness in tones and the furry softness in his clothing. He looks like someone who is doing a polar expedition. An explorer looking at the last frontiers, the hero of his own movie. Beautiful light too.
Lisadee, 7 months ago
Oh wow Deb – thats amazing, you can almost feel the chill and the wind in your own hair. Brill!
Deborah Parkin in reply to Lisadee’s comment, 7 months ago
Thanks Lisa – i could see Clara in this coat actually lol!!

The hidden mouth, the dark squinting eyes, the movement, the way you’ve used those basic elements to me makes this a complex and moving portrait.
You’re always inspiring Deb.
shawhouse, 7 months ago
missed this. love how Abe’s hair mingles with the fur. excellent tones, softness of his face against sharpness of wild hair. I really get the feeling it’s blowing like crazy and cooold.

The sense of a warm living human being triumphing over the winter storm. Something of a past age in the visual style which I find very appealing.
