Like the depth the path gives the image (but then it is the subject of the image…....slaps head like a dunce). Nice light too and nice textures in the treetrunks!

Thanks Simon – thought you would be watching Dr Who :)

classic heavy vignette works well here with this monochrome pastoral. the high contrast adds to the vintage look as well. sweet.

Makes me feel cold just looking at it. Beautiful and the dark frame seems to emphasise the content. Nice one Deb.

Superb-the vignetting adds so much tone and depth to the image. A really clever piece.

This reminds me of the start to a brothers Grim fable!! Nice work Deborah

Just love the edging around this Deb. Very stark contrasts bertween the black and white give an eiree sense of calm about this. Very nicely framed by the trees and the greass either side of the path helps lead you nicely in.

Ahhhhhh so loovely!

Gorgeous, Deborah … Like from out of a dream.

Fantastic work Debs.. I love this, it has a real haunting feeling about it but not in a creepy way. The darkness of this is great and contrasts so well with the light on the trees.. actually this reminds me a bit of an etching in metal, because of those silvery tones. Very well framed by the trees and dark vignetting.. Fantastic as always.
Oh and did someone mention Dr Who? I’ve just been watching that here in Saudi too!
Sean Farragher

Amazing light Deb, it guides you down the path. And though you can’t see the canopy of the trees, you’ve captured the feeling of their height . And of course your clever eye has made the whole thing beautiful.
Robert Mrvecka

You have such a direct way of communicating through your pictures. If I would do a theme like this I would need 78 layers and a million colours and a complete box of Pandorra. You don’t need so many ‘tricks’ to say what you want to say. Beautiful image, Deborah. Pure and strong. Yeah, the path. Where will it bring us? The thing is: we don’t know. We want to know, but we don’t.
Ken Mucke
Hey Deb…I really wanted to look and think about this one for a bit before commenting because it is very unique in an amazing sense….first thing that draws me in is the sense that the whole image is first outlined in darness and the center is very very light…so what happens is that is draws you into the center of the image and in the center it takes you down the path and leads you to uncertainty…..and to the unknown….it makes you want for more of the path and where this journey leads you….you did an amazing job with bringing us to the path and jpurney of the image….The toning here is perfect as are the different textures and lighting …so very well done

“Another freezing cold day” but with the magic of Deb Parkin woven through it. To anyone else walking it, this may just be a simple path… but your imagination takes us on a journey as always Deb… I want to place my feet upon this path and let it lead me where it will. THAT is some powerful magic indeed.

There is something about the intrinsic nature of the Holga that enhances the vision of the photographer who wishes to bring out the sense of mystery in a scene. I am reminded of the very effective device employed in the silent cinema of closing the iris on the lens to concentrate the viewer’s attention on some aspect of the scene. We tend to be see to the wide sweep of Hadrian’s Wall so it is good to see how you have chosen a more intimate corner of the area. This spot looks very ancient and not a little mysterious – a feeling reinforced by the almost IR rendering of the foliage. Very atmospheric. (and impressive)

looks a little spooky… i like it…
