Starfish flower by

I thought a cane toad had died in the garden, but the smell turned out to be my cactus, Stapelia variegata. Also known as ‘Starfish flower’, ‘Star flower’ & ‘carrion flower’. It smells of old fish or rotten meat, but was quite exciting to find flowering all the same! It is pollinated by flies , hence the reason for the texture & smell. Note the maggots on the petals.

Untouched. As is.
