Upolu's Sentinels
I tend to work a lot in silhouette when I’m doing landscapes – I like the ‘atmosphere’ to be the thing that draws the eye in.
My whanau and I recently spent a couple of glorious weeks in Samoa and this is one of the works that resulted.
Dusk is my favourite time of the day (I’m sure dawn would be too, but it’s just too damned early) – as the heat goes out of the day and the light gets more intense the birds and animals begin their final song before resting for the night. We will be going back to Samoa, that’s for sure.
Landscape and trees from digital photo, the sky and clouds are all mine and created in Photoshop.

Love a good silhouette, great shot!

Thanks so much. Only the trees are from photos (several different) – the clouds are all mine! LOL. I call it ‘digitaldistillation’ – taking the photos I’ve taken apart and remaking them more to what I pictured in my head – tales of a frustrated photographer.
