This Mute Swan is an old friend, normally he is seen on York’s River Ouse but on this occasion it was one of his rare visits to the university lake. Recently fellow RBer Jesika featured a photo of him.

What a beauty
Thanks again Blamo. Unfortunately the Blacks do not agree with you, they chased him away!

Competitors eh
Sure, the Blacks just do not like the Mutes. Racialists! Despite being half their size the Black have no problem seeing the Mutes off.

He comes back just to pose for you and show his beautiful plumage.
Many thanks 4spot. I see him often enough for him to reconise me and wag his tail.

Sir Aard this is magnifico !!!!!
Magnificent he certainly is. It is not until you stand, or better sit, in front of one of these birds that you realise just how big they are. Of the eight species of swan this is the third largest and the Aussie Black is the third smallest.

He’s a handsome fellow – I think his name is a bit harsh! ;o)
Meant with affection, we are the best of friends!
