Ra: Falcon Pectoral by Aakheperure

Kids Clothes

Available to buy on…

Ra – supreme god of the sun holds shem the symbol of eternity topped by ankhs in his claws. Based on a pectoral from Tutankhamun’s tomb. Work on this piece was complicated by the fact that the original I was working from had been incorrectly rendered. (A black and white photograph that had been hand coloured in an old text book my grandmother bought me when I was a lot younger than I am now). Got there in the end.
Ra is easy to identify because he has a sun disc on his head (Horus does not and is often show wearing the double crown in his role of patron of the living king)

And a great deal of patience! Well done.

  • Which I don’t have enough of LOL. Waiting for various layers to dry was a bit tortuous, but once I started I wasn’t prepared to give up!

Wow! the detailed work is awesome!

  • This one had a difficult birth, compounded by extreme humidity and other technical issues, but Set eventually vanquished Apep with his lance and the sun came out, so to speak!

The piece of the anhk has been restored!

  • Well spotted Obonic! I often “correct” and “restore” as I go, trying to get a piece just right. Not too little, not too much! :)
