This is one of the wonderful woodland plants that are new to our garden this year. I had a hard time finding the right angle for this shot, but I like the way the flower is almost “looking at” the leaf.
Nikon 300S and Nikon 105mm f/2.8 micro lens.

I used Topaz Detail Soft Looking, Nik Color Efex Pro 4, Darken/Lighten Center, and two textures from Flypaper Textures – Verdigris Mist and Apple Moss.

You really have evoked a woodland feeling in your processing – the softness of a secluded spot and the blue tinges on the flower in the shade. I think your angle also contributes to the slightly secret feeling, as we see only some of the stamens between petals. Lovely work!

  • Thank you so much, Celeste. I love woodland plants and it’s such a joy to have them in our yard. They are much more challenging for me to photograph than the larger and more substantial daylilies and irises, so I’m always pleasantly surprised when I get something I like!
