It has been incredibly warm here in Massachusetts – over 80 degrees the past few days – and our daffodils started blooming yesterday, over two weeks early. The forsythia is blooming as well and that’s about a month early. I don’t know what the long-term effects of this unseasonable weather will be, but I did have fun shooting daffodils today! This was the first daffodil to bloom in my yard!

Photographed with the Nikon 300S and Nikon 105mm f/2.8 micro lens. Processed with Nik Color Efex 4 Contrast Color Range and Lighten/Darken Center, Topaz Detail Soft Looking, Topaz Simplify Watercolor (low opacity), and the texture is L’Aube from French Kiss Textures.

Happy Spring!!!

Beautiful! It looks fabulous against the blue!!

  • Thank you so much, Tracy. It’s great to finally get out and shoot again! The flower is actually in front of the foundation, but I put a colored card behind it so I would have a background that would take the texture well.

I love all the daffodils, jonquils, narcissus – the entire family! This one has a bit of orange edging on its trumpet that’s especially appealing (and a great contrast with the blue). A delightful springtime image!

  • Thank you so much for your kind words, Celeste. I love daffodils too – they are such cheerful flowers and a delightful sign of spring. Their season is so short, and with this warm weather I’m afraid they’ll be gone much too soon!
