This lovely iris reminds me of a flamenco dancer, so I put a brightly-colored wall behind her to showcase her talents. I photographed her at the Toronto Botanical Garden in June of 2009, when the irises were in full bloom.

I processed the flower with Nik Color Efex Pro 4 Contrast Color Range and then added 4 textures with various blend modes to create the wall.

Nikon D80 with Nikon 60mm micro lens.

I agree with your dancer interpretation. I’m glad I’m not the only one with a tendency to anthropomorphize flowers. :) The colors in your “wall” are wonderful – exactly reversing the balance of yellow and red-orange in the flower. Olé!

  • Thank you so much, Celeste. I do enjoy anthropomorphizing flowers and this lovely lady made it very easy for me! I played with a lot of different textures (that’s half the fun, right?) before I found these, and I’m glad you like the result!

Splendid work, Anita. Your Iris is lovely; the bdgrd texture is a work of art in itself.

  • Thank you so much for your kind words, and for the fave as well!
