I took this photo in my yard some years ago and I recently found it again when looking for an image to fit the theme “Perfectly Imperfect” for Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday.
I had seen this fellow in our yard many times that August, and I was amazed at how well he could fly, even with broken wings, and it was always inspiring to see him return to our butterfly bush.
We no longer have a butterfly bush (they are only marginally hardy here) and this butterfly is long gone, but his inspiring message surely lives on.
Nikon D80 with Nikon 18-200mm lens, at 200mm.
In Photoshop CC I used Topaz Lens Effects Yellow to Red filter, as well as Nik Color Efex 4 Darken/Lighten Center (masked and at low opacity), then I added two layers of Kim Klassen’s Waterfront 18 texture, one set to Color Burn 100% and one to Multiply 50%.
