Things Are Looking Up! by Anita Pollak

This is one of the last shots I took of Jazzbeaux and Erroll together about a year ago. I wish I had taken more before we lost Erroll in October, but I’m glad I have this and the others I took that day.

Jazzbeaux is Erroll’s older brother, and the two of them loved to curl up together on our office chairs. If they were on my chair I would usually try to work standing up rather than disturb them, something Rick would often tease me about. Of course he was known to do it as well!

I took a whole series of shots that morning, including the one I used for Erroll’s tribute. It was challenging to get both of them in focus with good expressions, and I was thrilled when both of them looked up and I got this shot.

Erroll is in the front, looking adorable as always, with his beautiful brother behind him. I made some color and exposure adjustments and added a low-opacity layer of Nik Color Efex Pro 4 Glamour Glow to finish it off.

How sweet, Anita – what beauities! I’m so sorry you lost Erroll – did Jazzbeaux do ok afterwards? We had Siamese brothers when I was a kid and they were inseparable.

  • Thank you so much for your kind comments and condolences about Erroll, Christina! We were really worried about how Jazzbeaux would do, but fortunately he did better than we expected.

Of course he even more attention than usual, and we were happy to give it to him. He’s very much a lap cat, and if Rick and I are both in the office he’ll alternate between Rick’s lap and mine – an equal-opportunity lover boy!

It’s great that you had Siamese brothers growing up, and I’m not surprised that they were inseparable. We were so lucky to have the two of them for as long as we did, and hopefully JB will not be leaving us any time soon.

They are such a handsome pair and do look very lovable. I can appreciate the difficulty of getting the two of them together in a portrait. :) You are fortunate to have this and the other photos, even though you would have liked to have more. When you love and lose a pet, there’s no such thing as enough photos.

  • Thank you so much for your very kind comments and the fave, Celeste! And yes, we are so lucky to have this photo and all the others. And you are so right – when you lose a pet, there is not such thing as enough photos. I even enjoy looking at the “’out takes” – I can’t bring myself to delete any photos of our boys!

What a great picture, Anita – so sad though to read your comment!

  • Thank you so much for your kind comments, Alexandra. And yes, it is sad the Erroll is gone, but Jazzbeaux is starting to get his feistiness back, which is a very good sign. If he’s quiet, that’s when we worry!
