Abstract Glass Reflections by Anita Pollak
Clear

I took this photo (and many more!) back in 2011 for a close-up class with Bryan Peterson. The assignment was specular highlights, so I brought this glass basket to my back porch when the late afternoon light was streaming in.

It’s a lovely basket decorated with red flowers, and I shot it many different ways. This isn’t the shot I used in the class but it caught my eye when I was looking through my archives.

Nikon D300s with Nikon 105mm lens.

I boosted the contrast and vibrance and used two layers of Alien Skin Snap Art 4 with custom settings and different opacities.

I am a photographer living in Massachusetts and my passion is flowers. I take the time to reveal the special beauty of each flower and I hope that comes through as you look at my work.

The silky, high gloss is wonderful the way it brings out the forms and colors in the glass. The background bokeh has a colorful supporting role to play and does it very well. Altogether a fascinating image, Anita!

  • Thank you so much for your delightful comments and the fave, Celeste! I was looking for something different to work on and a trip through the archives brought me to this series of photos. As you know, going back through the archives can be surprising and productive, especially when there’s nothing much to shoot outside!

Looking like a flowery nest of jewels, Anita… I know you had fun in the class…Love the colors and all that bokeh!!! Fave

  • Thank you so much for your lovely comments and the fave, Susan! A flowery nest of jewels – you have such a wonderful way with words! I had a ball with that class and wish I could go out right now and shoot some things on the back porch, bu that (like so many things) will have to wait for warmer weather!
