I love Mayapple blossoms but they can be very challenging to photograph because they are under the leaves, and bending down isn’t always easy for me. This blossom caught the early evening light so beautifully that I couldn’t resist taking multiple shots, and I liked this one the best.

Nikon D700 and Nikon 105mm f/2.8 micro lens.

I used RadLab El Capitan Del Cruncho to increase the contrast and Nik Color Efex Pro 4 Color Stylizer to darken the background. I finished it off with Kim Klassen’s Grungeframed and Teatime from the May Trio, and Solstice Cupid from French Kiss Textures.

It could be a moon flower for the way it glows. :) It is lovely and a bit mysterious, a most interesting role for a may apple to play.

  • Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the fave too – I love the idea of a moon flower!
