La Jolla, California, USA

When we visited San Diego in December 2010 we made a trip to La Jolla and took lots of shots of the sea lions and this one was by far my favorite. It’s also very special to me because I find wildlife photography so challenging and all too often I miss that “special moment.” I’m so grateful to have captured this one!

Fabulous pose, and the warm light is wonderful! This is truly a delightful image.

  • Thank you so much, Celeste! About an hour after we took these shots the entire cove area was fogged in – we were very lucky to see the sea lions and get these shots!

Gorgeous image. They are something to watch and shoot arent they. we saw some on our trip to Ca..also..Amazing shot

  • Thank you so much for your lovely comments, Jean! They really are fun to watch and sjoot. We were very lucky because the fog rolled shortly after we took these shots and that was our only chance to see them. I look forward to getting back to Ca to see them again!

You were lucky for sure. ONce that fog sets in. Well unless you want fog shots. One is done…!!!It is a thick fog isn’t it. But Beautiful country none the less…We hope to get back also. We went up the coast from San Diego to the Sequia National Forest.. We hope to go further up this time. That Pacific highway is truly amazing with all the views and all…Hope you get back there soon …!!

  • Thanks for your reply, Jean! I know what you mean about that fog – it was incredibly thick. Your trip sounds wonderful – we didn’t travel nearly that far up the coast. The Pacific Highway really is amazing, and the more I write this the more I want to go back!. I hope you get back there soon as well.

    A difficult subject brilliantly done!

  • Thank you so much for your kind comments, Kenneth! They are a challenging subject – I find anything that moves challenging to shoot. That’s why most of my subjects are flowers or leaves!
