Grass Trees by

I admit, I do love Grass Trees. I am fascinated by the shape of their foliage and their whole appearance.
Saw this ‘little family’ on a drive on the new Indian Ocean Drive road just north of Perth.

Grass Trees (Xanthorrhoea) grow in Australia only. The striking, very slow growing plant has a lifespan of 600 years and it takes decades to grow to this height.

This panoramic image is a 7 photo stitch.

superb I just love grass trees…,I too was there, or maybe the ones I saw were further up the road…. just a couple/four ? of weeks ago and went ’mad ’taking photos! I think it was just after the bad storm in Perth and we went through it as it came up the coast.

  • Thanks Virginia! Well, there is literally thousands of them along this road. :-) Just amazing…
