wow! it must have been amazing to see this magnificent creature! it’s my goal to get a photo of a manta that’s this good! thanks for sharing!

  • aabzimaging replied

Cheers Kelly! Just had a Manta Ray like that (about 3.5 metres wide) on yesterdays dive but had planned for macro! D*(&^$%! I wish I had taken the wide angle lens. Especially because it was hovering above me for quite a while and I would have had all time in the world to frame the shot.
In the photo you see here the manta was just flying past. I was laying on my back on the bottom of the ocean floor at 23 metres (thanks god, no coral here just sand!). It was not even a metre away from the lens. I took about three shots and this one came out best.

hahaha. d’oh! i haven’t even seen a manta yet. i can’t wait until i do. i’ve been wanting to since i started diving!
there’s no coral at nigaloo? would love to dive there one day when i can afford the airfare. hehe.

  • aabzimaging replied

Oh there is heaps of coral at Ningaloo! But this shot was taken in Yap/Micronesia. There was no coral in this part of the channel – just sand.
