I think this is regularly seen in episodes of The Bill. In the late 1940’s/early 1950’s I worked in St Helens Place which is just round the corner from here. Was a bit different in those days though! Peter
A90Six replied
Yes Peter, it has changed quite a bit around that area. I have a couple of shots of St Helen’s somewhere that I’ll get around to uploading one of these days. A beautiful old church now lost in the midst of towering giants. Tony.

Excellent perspective T. It makes it look like the building could topple over on you. The symmetry is also very appealing here in combination with the geometry of the structures outside design pattern. Great shot. Hugs, 30 S.
A90Six replied
Thank you S! Not sure about the building toppling over, but I almost did! O30OT

Congratulations on winning the challenge Tony … I was amazed to hear the police were banging on your door at 7am, how did they find you ô¿ô!! Can you tell me what the building is used for? I see it on the Bill over here & have often wondered!
Cheers, Tai
A90Six replied
Hi Tainia!
The building is nothing more than an office block mostly occupied by the Swiss Re company. I can’t wait for The Shard to be built – that is going to be a much photographed building.
:) Tony.
Tainia Finlay
WOW thank you for all the info! Much prefer watching The Shard bit to the Bill lol … I shall look forward to some captures from you of it, when it’s finished :D Thanks again Tony.

Great shot – I work in that building and you see hundreds of people photographing the place so it’s nice to see someone do something different with it.
A90Six replied
I’m jealous! You must have some fantastic views and photo ops from up there! Some wonderful buildings and scenes to shoot everyday just a stone’s throw from you.
I headed up town early one Sunday morning almost a year ago. It was a red sky the night before and, relying the shepherd’s adage, I figured a good sunrise was on the cards.
Tower Bridge Sunrise was the result. While up there I took some shots of the tower before driving round the empty streets to the Gherkin. I set up the tripod and snapped away, taking a couple at distance of the Lloyds’ Building. (I had never heard of it at the time, but liked the look.) I also went around the block and took some shots of St Helen’s Church.
A week or so later I had the London City police knocking at my door in the pre-dawn, wanting to know what I was doing photograping buildings in London. I couldn’t believe it!
Thanks for the kind comment!
:) Tony.

Tony – Yeah I am currently on the 15th floor but soon moving to the 6th :( you do get a great view from up there. I agree with the buildings in the area – Lloyds, Willis, etc and the new cheese grater soon to go up with another one called the glass shard I think. I have some more on my web site but will post a view to the Lloyds building from the 15th on RB.
Wendi Donaldson
Great shot here…..great story that accompanies it….How on earth did they find you at home???
Scary days, for sure. Congratulations on this one.
A90Six replied
Thanks Wendi! I drove through London (the city with the most CCTV cameras in the world) in my own car with absolutely nothing to hide. How stupid do they think people with a sinister motive are? I said that if I had wanted to take shots surreptitiously I would have worn something other than my usual hat & coat, taken public transport and used a hidden camera. Still, I suppose they have to check it all out to justify the wage bill.
:) Tony.
Wendi Donaldson
Wow….amazing security – and I guess we have to be thankful they’re looking out for us. Frustrating tho’. You did a fanastic job.
A90Six replied
Thanks again Wendi!
