The Celtic Cross, sometimes referred to as the Irish Cross is these days represetative of the Christian Church in Ireland. Ancient Celtic crosses can also be found in other Celtic regions such as Cornwall in England, Wales, Scotland and the Scottish Isles. It’s origins are unclear, but the notion that it was introduced by St Patrick is not true as the symbol was around long before his time.

The cross in this shot is a headstone on a grave at Killahenna Cemetery, Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, Ireland, where many of my ancestors and relatives are buried.

Celtic Cross belongs to the following groups:

Complex Simplicity of Art, European Everyday Life (add the place!), Heritage in Stone, Landscape and Abstract Photography, Landscape Photography, Live, Love, Dream: , PixElations - The Art of Photoshop, Safe Haven and The Patchwork Available for sale as

Greeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Jayne spoke not a word, actually! I just saw your cross on her page and was inexplicable drawn to you! My family is actually Amercian NOW, but began two generations ago in County Donegal. Great Grand Da jumped ship in New Oreleans. And that’s just one side of the thing! Are you Irish, then??? And do forgive, we Yanks say, “I’m Irish,” etc…cause we are so bloody lost here and missing the motherland!!!!AND the Guinness! HAHA!

Raised in The Kingdom (the County Kerry),
but taken to London by force.
My parents sought work and a “better life”,
    still it ended in divorce.

I still go back at least once a year
and there is no place I’d rather be.
The loves, the lives, the Home of my Heart,
    Ballybunion by the Sea!

    :) Tony.

  • A90Six replied

Thanks Leanna! I dont think Irish men have it all, we’re so bad at choosing curtains, we fail to moisturise and have the strangest sense of humour!
