I am greatly attracted to images that impart a sense of natural grandeur and aged grace; whether it be the solemn, understated beauty of a stone angel perched upon its tombstone pedestal, or the sleek, shiny chrome finish on the bumper of a ’57 Chevy. My goal is to use my camera like Alice’s rabbit hole, to open an unexplored world, a place of curious self-expression, but also a world of new relationships, new chances, new beginnings and most importantly, new stories. I want to give the viewer a sense of looking at a hidden world we don’t normally “see”.
I like to capture an original photo of anything I find interesting, the beauty and mystery that is around us: I strive for a sense of pure, uncomplicated composition and hope that I can find the personality in sometimes impersonal subject matter.
I have been a photographer for as long as I can remember. I used to sneak into my parents bedroom and take, without permission, my father’s old collectible Kodak camera. At such a young age, I would go out and take some fantastic photographs. My parents would always wonder how the photographs got there until I confessed. I bought my first camera from the back of a cereal box at the age of eight. Even as a small child, I possessed a passion and talent for capturing that magical moment in time. My sense of unique photography didn’t go over too well with one of my traditional photography teachers; at one point, that teacher told me to give up photography all together because I wasn’t following the “rules.”
PS: I am happy to share my life with a wonderful illustrator & professional caricature artist and 3 beautiful cats. Check out his website, he’s a great artist. www.caricatoonz.com
PSS: I am more determined more than ever now to take more brilliant images and share my photography before I loose my eye sight to that dreadful disease called Glaucoma.
