… it is a meditation … surrendering the Self to the prevalent energy, becoming one with it … the technical & theoretical detail fades into the background as an automatic given – it must be learned, practiced and refined, but in the defining moments it fades from all conscious effort as all energy is channeled into the energy of the present moment – the moment of magic to be transferred to an image captured forever
… like a meditation in that all barriers and boundaries are transcended and the Self ceases to exist … the Self merges with all that is and acts as receiver and channel, an instrument fulfilling a purpose … the purpose of extending the vividness of that short moment and burning it into an image for all the world to see for all time to come
… that is what photography is to me
