Artist and devisor. Creativity, innovation and action are inspiration for my work.
My arts practice divides into work I make personally and the work I make or facilitate with others. The work I make with groups and individuals is varied, dependant on theme, group, aims and objectives sometimes it is an event and other times it is product based. No matter – it is always about creativity whether exploring my ideas or by providing participants with a framework and facilitating their creativity.
Currently thinking about, working with ideas and action based on the following questions: How are artists relevant in today’s society? Can art get people back to work? How can artists facilitate the creative entrepreneur? Why creativity is important?
I am exploring how an artist can bring creativity to more people, make my arts practice relevant to society, make interesting work, make collaboration the work, the art and symmetry of getting people involved. Taking a broad approach to what art is. The role of creativity in times of harsh economic realities. Creativity for moving forward. A positive creative environment is conducive to excellent work. The core starting point being the fact that art is the realisation of creative thought.
Materials are an important part of my arts practice. I create personal work using; oils, acrylics, digital prints, handmade textiles, photography, writing and collage. People, identity and heritage are themes I work with. I also enjoy using recycling materials and gardening as a way to promote creativity with schools and community groups. Combining art, science and nature for positive environments, fun learning and teaching life skills to kids.
I devise, organise and run events and facilitate training;
- creativity for boosting self esteem and morale
- creative workshops for children and adults; the art of construction, felt making, second life for rubbish
- Heart, art and soul workshops and creative safari’s
- arts and incentive based training/facilitation: communications, change!, team development, positive personal development, creative tools for idea generation, creative thinking strategies, solution generation, planning for success.
I work with businesses and not for profits on creativity in the work place through consultancy and 1:1 creativity coaching.
I am an advocate of creative arts for all. Currently I’m exploring ways to bring opportunity and access through art and creative experiences for communities (interestingly enough this includes my corporate clients also).
