my name is Rob Bennett, Tampa Florida. i am an artist and the founder of MUTE8 griptape.
a griptape company where i hand paint every single piece of grip. i studied commercial and graphic arts after highschool, working in the apparel industry.
i left the apparel industry to follow art, i mainly have done murals and wall hangings, focusing on surrealism. Mute8 griptape was started as a gift idea for my nephew, Kody. for the past 4 years i have given him a new deck with the griptape custom painted. so one night i got bored and painted my own griptape on my skateboard. i painted mute8 randomly across the top of the board, rode at parks… got a lot of comments and inquiries as to where they could griptape. recently i decided to purchase 10 blank skateboards and 100 sheets of griptape and create my own company idea… i skate, i paint, why not do both things that i enjoy….

every sheet of griptape is unique and cannot be reduplicated… i can always do another rendition but rarely are my pieces identical.

each griptapes lifetime will vary, i have boards that are years old and still make a killer wall hanging after you skate them…..
