Coelophysis

Coelophysis was one of the first dinosaurs that lived during the late Triassic period around 210 million years ago.

At around 3m long this was a small animal, but one that was built for survival in the harsh desert conditions of the time. Fossils of Coelophysis have been found in large collections suggesting that they lived in groups.

Bones of smaller younger animals have been found apparently in the stomach of older specimens leading to a theory that Coelophysis was a cannibal. But this theory has recently been questioned after fresh examinations have revealed the smaller bones probably did not belong to Coelophysis at all.
