Growth in Trials by Darlene Virgin
Clear

This is a fabric art piece I made during the failing health of my Dad. The flowers represent growth, love and life. All three of these were present in my relationship with my Father, but if you notice the colors are muted and not bright and cheerful. I would have loved to had a different representation of my relationship with him, but it was what it was. My acceptance of the reality of the relationship is the growth that took place in me. The love we had wasn’t perfect and that is why I chose the muted colors. Flowers only last for a time, then they die and are no more and that is life. My Father died shortly after completing this work. I wasn’t able to go to his funeral. However, God helped me to see there was beauty, purpose and worth in it all.
