Since I was a little girl, I always wanted to somehow help people and I have always been interested in art in its many forms. Yet, until quite recently in my life, I never really realized that I could actually produce something other people might like to look at :) I have taken many courses in Art, Language, Storytelling and Child Development. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders, from California State University Long Beach and hold a California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License.
Working as a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant in an elementary school, has given me the opportunity to come up with creative therapy materials in order to engage students with speech, language and communication disorders grades kindergarten through fifth grade.
I am in the (4 years so far) process of writing, illustrating and most likely self-publishing an educational children’s alphabet picture book, coming soon to an Amazon store near you! Each letter of the alphabet is brought to life with unique and colorful illustrations and artful alliteration.
Creating my book and therapy materials has further strengthened my love for art and has allowed me to explore my personal expression of my imagination onto paper. Whether it be drawing, illustrating or photography, or anything else that happens into my creative world, I’m in.
My goal is to obtain a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology. My mission is to continue writing and illustrating children’s books and creating amazing therapy materials for children with autism and other disabilities. In the future, I hope to create an organization which will meld art and therapy into one.
I am now the (totally new to business) proud owner of, what is possibly growing into a publishing company, Speech Bubble Books and The Speech Bubble, a place for Speech Teachers, Therapists, Parents and Educators to find fun and easy hand drawn games and materials for speech articulation and more! Educational hand-drawn games, images and materials can be purchased now on Etsy and Teachers-Pay-Teachers. Your favorite images can be made into calendars, mugs and more at Redbubble and CafePress.
