This is the natural sky color and how it looked to the naked eye. The sky was cloudy in this photo which was taken right at 4:20 pm Alaska Standard time. The light from the sun – filters through the atmosphere at an almost horizontal level due to the suns’ very low position on the horizon in our very short arctic days – and reflects this intense blue spectrum creating this striking blue sky in combination with the electric lighting along the pathway. In these far northern latitudes in the winter, darkness occurs VERY rapidly, changing from light to dark within several minutes so in order to get this coloring – one has to be very quick. :-) Cannon Powershot S-20 IS.

Wow!
This is stunning, Ann
Thanks so much for your lovely compliment…it is very much appreciated! Could you tell me where you saw this photo of mine? Someone is apparently show-casing it – but I have checked the groups I belong to and don’t see it – and I don’t know who to thank! Thank you!………….Anita
