Turning The Tassel

Written the night before my daughter was to graduate from high school.

Tonight becomes your night
As you turn your tassel.
A new door now opens
As you leave high school hassles.

There’s a wondering in your eyes,
And on your face, a smile.
There are dreams in your head
As you walk this last mile.

So many things you’ve learned,
And you have come a long way.
But you are just beginning
Another bright, new day.

Doors are now opening
That you will walk through.
They are a learning process
To help make a better you.

Beyond those new doors
You will soon find out,
That life is not always
How you thought it about.

I, too, walked through those doors.
And some dreams were changed.
I had my life planned out,
But those plans were rearranged.

So, my thoughts for you is this
On your graduation day…
I will always be behind you
Each and every step of the way!
