Evergreen
Written in the wee hours of a morning as I was reflecting back to the first moments of a relationship.
I was just a tiny sapling,
With roots so very small.
I had no buds or blossoms,
And felt no sunshine at all.
Then a short time ago,
I slowly became aware
Of you watching…smiling…
Quietly sitting there.
The forest around your life
Must have had so many trees.
Some of them were beautiful…
So why did you water me?
I’m content where I am growing now.
Don’t remove me from the scene.
I live because you care,
And you keep me evergreen!
And in the winter of my life,
Because of you I can always say…
I was always loved and cared for
And had sunshine in my day.

Who would have thought you would stumble across my poetry. I had to dig deep into the archives to find my created treasures… Thank you for taking the time to read my work.

As a former high school English teacher, Maria, I’d give you an A+ on this beautifully composed piece. Wonderful images; great precision in choice of words, packed with meaning. You’ve got to combine your photos and your poems; you’re a cardmaker waiting to be discovered!
