Design created in CS4 Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. To make this pattern or textile design I started in Illustrator with just a simple circle and then made a series of circles all graduated. Offset the stack of them in the center of the largest one. I selected colors from the medieval pallet in Adobe Illustrator and colored some of the circles that overlapped. I copied the result rotated and placed it opposite the original. Copied the product, which was then rotated and placed over the original to make a cross. I lightened the opacity of this part of the cross. Took the cross and cloned away. 2 makes 4 4 makes 8 8 makes 16 et cetera. All together when this was complete I exported the .ai file to Photoshop as a .Jpeg image. Here I brought a layer of textured paper, I had photographed taped to a window, into the work and blended it with the “difference” blend option in the layers panel pull down menu. This combined elements of each image into one, as well as altering the colors based on a formula explained in Photoshop’s help section.
