An Old VW. by Jay Reed

Currently unavailable for purchase

A photograph I took about 15 years ago, its in the Avenues of West Columbia, South Carolina. The two story house in the back ground has been long since renovated. The shot was made on two and a quarter black and white film. I took it with a plastic Russian Lubitel camera. I loved that camera. Several years later a friend scanned the negative of this image for me. He also added a sepia tone in Adobe Photoshop. This is an application I hope to be getting for myself fairly soon.

I love the house…shame it was renovated…much prefer older houses when they are restored to how they once were…awesome VW…looks like a Fastback model :))

Graet car, great house. Cool a safer way to do sepia tone.I remeber our Photography teacher warning us not to put our finger near or in our mouths since there was cyanide in the chemicals used to do sepia tones.Guess I shouldn’t put those photos in my mouth either, like I would.

  • I have made sepia prints in the dark room to. Not only are the chemicals bad to taste….they smell terrible as well. Particuarly the stop bath. It irritated my nose for days. Thank you for the compliments on the content of my work.
