I don’t want to leave this night of fire
Or take his used glass to the kitchen
Or throw away his empty cigarette box
I don’t want to open the windows
And let the air that he used escape
Or give back his breath to the sky
I don’t want to wash his scent from my hands
Or shower his touch from my skin
Or rinse his bittersweet taste from my tongue
I don’t want to take my make up off
Or kick off these impossible shoes
Or free myself from garters and lace
I don’t want any soothing lotion
To softly rub the burning marks
His raging passion left on my skin
I don’t want to sleep away his love’s commands
That still bindingly echo in my ears
Or dream away the boundaries we broke
I’m staying here, motionless on the couch
To remain in this cocoon of his recent presence
And make this night solidify in time forever
